A magical place and a true hidden gem for nature lovers. Super clean, managed with love and care. We were welcomed like old friends at this conservation center and guest house. The surrounding cliffs and river are absolutely stunning, and if you are a birder you have a great opportunity to see rare birds here. It is about an hour drive from a major highway, but it is well worth the visit. Make this your home base to see the Egyptian Vulture, Black Stork, Griffon Vulture, and tons of other species that inhabit this area. The conservation center staff pulled out a tripod and scope immediately and helped us spot these birds. There are birds everywhere, and conservation staff also shared a map with all of their local birding hotspots with us. Every one of their hotspots really impressed us. If you have the time, this is a truly special place ♥️. Also, you can get some craft beer and food at the conservation center before you head back out into the field to spot another lifer!
We had a fantastic stay at the Vulture centre in late July. It is located in the most beautiful area we've visited in Bulgaria and when you step outside you can directly see vultures, Black Storks, eagles, etc. Nusha and the rest of the staff were fantastic hosts, the food was great and the rooms very cozy. In the vulture centre itself, you can ask everything you want to know about the area and its wildlife. Definitely would recommend!
