Celebrate the spirit of Colorado with a journey that immerses visitors in the state’s rich history, diverse wildlife, and breathtaking natural landscapes. This special experience offers engaging programming with Nature’s Educators, a dedicated wildlife conservation team that introduces guests to native birds and reptiles, along with exciting flight demonstrations that showcase the beauty and agility of Colorado’s raptors. In addition, interactive activities highlight the culture, heritage, and history of the state, providing families with an educational and entertaining adventure. The scenic train ride winds through the dramatic Georgetown Loop, where steep canyons, towering peaks, and lush forests create a striking backdrop. The experience allows travelers to connect with both the natural and cultural treasures that have made Colorado a beloved destination for generations. Guests leave with a deeper appreciation of the state’s unique environment and historical significance.
The Georgetown Loop itself is a historic and scenic railway that has captured the imagination of visitors for over a century. Steam-powered locomotives once carried passengers and cargo through the rugged mountain terrain, and today, several of these beautifully preserved “iron horses” continue to operate between Georgetown and Silver Plume. Guests board the train at Georgetown Devil’s Gate, enjoying panoramic views and the charm of vintage rail travel, while guided programming and activities provide context about the region’s history and wildlife. All travelers are encouraged to arrive early to collect physical tickets, and children must be accompanied by an adult, while infants should be carried as strollers and car seats are not permitted on board. While every effort is made to maintain the schedule, train operations and equipment may occasionally change, and any additional handouts are provided while supplies last. This experience offers a perfect combination of scenic beauty, historical significance, and interactive learning, making it a memorable day for visitors of all ages.
