Experience the spirit of Colorado on a unique journey that celebrates the state’s rich history, wildlife, and natural beauty. This special adventure combines the thrill of a scenic train ride with engaging educational programming, led by Nature’s Educators, a dedicated wildlife conservation group. Guests will enjoy interactive demonstrations featuring native birds and reptiles, learning fascinating facts about the animals and witnessing flight exhibitions. Additional activities highlight the heritage and culture of Colorado, offering families an immersive experience that honors everything that makes the state remarkable. Along the way, travelers will be surrounded by the dramatic mountain landscapes of the Georgetown Loop, with steep canyons, towering peaks, and lush forests creating a stunning backdrop for an unforgettable day. Each booking provides a chance to connect with both nature and history in a setting that has enchanted visitors for generations.
The journey also includes a guided exploration of the historic Leavenworth Mountain silver mine. Guests follow a section of the Hise Ore, once an operational link between the silver mines of Silver Plume and the Silver Queen Mine in Georgetown. Knowledgeable mine tour guides reveal naturally occurring silver pearls, calcified hobnail boot prints, intricate calcite formations, and stalactites that have formed over more than a century. After exploring the mine, visitors return to the train to complete the scenic ride back to Georgetown Devil’s Gate, experiencing the preserved steam locomotives that have been a symbol of Colorado’s mining and transportation history. Guests are encouraged to arrive early to collect physical tickets and mine tour wristbands. Children must remain with an adult, and infants should be carried, as strollers and car seats are not permitted on the train. While every effort is made to maintain the schedule, train operations and equipment may change, and any additional handouts are available while supplies last. This journey offers a perfect blend of education, adventure, and scenic beauty for visitors of all ages.
