Midnight Sun Whale Watching Tour Showcases Eyjafjörður’s Marine Giants

Visitors to northern Iceland can experience a spectacular Midnight Sun whale-watching adventure departing from Akureyri during the bright Arctic summer. The three-hour voyage travels through Eyjafjörður, Iceland’s longest glacial fjord, beneath a sky that remains illuminated well into the evening. The combination of extended daylight, calm waters and dramatic coastal scenery creates an ideal setting for observing Iceland’s remarkable marine life.

The journey begins in Akureyri, surrounded by striking landscapes and the towering Súlur mountain, before continuing into the tranquil waters of the fjord. As the vessel travels along the coastline, passengers can admire picturesque villages, rugged mountains and expansive views across the water. The route also passes the island of Hrísey, a renowned haven for birdlife, while elevated viewing platforms provide excellent vantage points for appreciating the scenery and searching for wildlife.
