September through March is an ideal period to witness the awe-inspiring aurora borealis in Iceland. The country’s unique location near the Arctic Circle provides frequent opportunities to see these dancing lights across the sky. We have selected dates that coincide with the new moon to ensure optimal viewing conditions, as a full moon can reduce visibility. While a general schedule is in place, we maintain flexibility to adjust the itinerary according to weather and aurora forecasts, allowing for the best chance to experience the northern lights. Hjalteyri is an excellent base for several nights, providing easy access to multiple viewing locations and allowing for spontaneous adjustments if cloud cover interferes with visibility. Guests can enjoy a seamless combination of adventure, comfort, and natural spectacle in this remote and beautiful region.

Throughout your journey, all transfers and domestic flights between Reykjavik and Akureyri are included, along with local transportation and the guidance of a full-time professional guide. Accommodations range from three-star to luxury hotels, and breakfast and dinner are provided daily except for the final night in Reykjavik. Travelers should bring comfortable walking shoes, waterproof and layered clothing, and a swimsuit if they wish to enjoy Iceland’s geothermal pools. Excluded from the package are international flights to and from Iceland, tips, alcohol or meals not listed in the itinerary, personal expenses, travel insurance, and optional activities.
