Experience a week-long immersion into Glacier National Park’s diverse ecosystems and landscapes, where each day builds skills in observation, interpretation, and understanding of the natural world. From conifer identification in rainforest habitats to wildflower exploration on alpine prairies, participants will learn to read the landscape and recognize the interconnections between plants, animals, and the geologic forces that shape them. Daily hikes and field excursions provide hands-on experience while evening lectures reinforce key concepts, preparing learners to confidently interpret Glacier’s flora, fauna, and habitats.
Discover the park’s geology, wildlife, and citizen science opportunities through a mix of guided fieldwork and classroom instruction. Participants will engage with mammals, birds, and crepuscular animals while exploring rivers, meadows, and trails, culminating in a final review and exam that integrates the week’s lessons. This course emphasizes small-group exploration, direct observation, and applied learning, leaving participants equipped with both practical field skills and a deep appreciation for the Crown of the Continent Ecosystem.
