Begin your journey with a convenient pickup from your address in Kraków, just a short 25-minute drive from the city center. This tour takes you to the historic Benedictine Abbey of Saints Peter and Paul in Tyniec, founded by Casimir the Restorer in 1044. Set on a hill overlooking the Vistula River, the abbey offers both spiritual significance and stunning views. As you explore the monastery, you’ll learn about the life of Saint Benedict of Nursia, who began as a hermit and later became the founder of the Benedictine order. His remarkable story includes surviving an attempt to poison him, with legend saying the chalice shattered as he blessed it.
The abbey itself stands as a symbol of resilience, having withstood centuries of conflict and reconstruction. Today, it remains an active monastery and a peaceful retreat for visitors seeking a connection to Poland’s deep religious and cultural roots. After your visit, you’ll be comfortably driven back to your address in Kraków, leaving you with a sense of reflection and appreciation for this timeless site.

Very nice Church in a beautiful location. The countryside makes it even nicer. I recommend visiting the church and the countryside nearby.

Beautiful Abbey, make sure you take the time to walk the trails outside of it. Even better is if you grab a few photos from across the river. Incredibly history of defending against the Russians and a very unique story of its well.

Well worth the visit. The Benedictines at this Monastery are doing everything right. The 10:30 Latin mass is so reverent. Recommend stopping in the museum, bookstore and gift shop. Don't forget to take a gander of the lovely views from the west wall.

This was my second time visiting. There was no renovation during my first visit, but now the outside of the church was under construction, with scaffolding at the entrance (in mid-August). Still, it’s such a peaceful spot surrounded by nature. I’ll definitely come back whenever I’m in Krakow. If you visit, I’d also suggest a walk along the river. When you head down from the church, just take the stairs on the left, it’s an easy way down.

We cycled from Krakow to this beautiful Abbey. Great cycle route along the river, easy ride (around 15km). The Abbey was a great place to visit, explore and have a drink before cycling back to Krakow. Lovely day trip
