Spring Steam Gala

Celebrate the return of the Spring Steam Gala at Lydney with a special weekend dedicated to small engines. This event features the historic reunion of GER 229 and Willy the Well Tank, both rescued from the National Shipyard in Chepstow and restored to full steam glory. Guests can enjoy witnessing these iconic locomotives in action, including the 150th birthday of GER 229, which offers a rare opportunity for the public to travel behind her since her return to steam. Willy the Well Tank, with her vibrant red livery, adds to the excitement, showcasing the craftsmanship and heritage of early twentieth century locomotives. Supported by additional historic engines, the gala brings together railway enthusiasts, families, and volunteers for a weekend full of immersive steam experiences.
