Join a traditional chimney cake baking experience during the winter holidays in Transylvania. This hands on activity takes place every day during the Christmas and New Year vacation with two sessions available at 10:00 and 15:00. The experience begins in a warm rustic kitchen where the sweet aroma of cinnamon and sugar fills the air. Under the guidance of a local instructor you will learn about the history and traditions behind this beloved Transylvanian dessert known as Kurtoskalacs.

The workshop begins with preparing the dough and rolling it into long thin strips. These strips are wrapped around a wooden roller brushed with butter and covered with sugar before being slowly roasted over hot coals. As the cake turns the sugar caramelizes creating a golden crispy crust. After baking you can choose toppings such as cinnamon sugar or crushed nuts. The result is a warm sweet pastry with a soft center and crispy caramelized outside. At the end of the experience you enjoy the freshly baked chimney cake making it a memorable culinary moment of the winter holidays in Transylvania.
