Absolutely worth the drive. The climate is rather cool than in the rest of Madeira so warmer clothing is recommended. The way up is a bit curvy but the roads are almost as brand new. The view is beautiful especially above the clouds. There is a bar, a Souvenir shop as well as a toilet.
One of the best view points on the whole island. Just one star missing, because we had to pay for the short walk from Arieiro to the closed path to Ruivo. In my eyes it would be fair, if you don’t need to pay for this path at the moment.
What a beautiful breathtaking(literally and figuratively) place.. It took us three attempts to drive to the mountains to get this view. Just constantly check the weather updates and the live webcam.. We went there just before sunset.. Hopefully the next time we’re back, the hiking path will be completely open.
