Summer Adventure Camp Blends Outdoor Fun With Hands-On Learning

A new Summer Adventure Camp is offering children an immersive week of outdoor activities designed to combine recreation, education, and environmental awareness. The program features a wide range of water-based and land-based adventures, giving campers the opportunity to experience the natural beauty of marshes and waterways while developing practical outdoor skills.

Daily activities include kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, fishing, crabbing, cast-net throwing, and swimming, all integrated with STEM-based learning and ecological exploration. Campers are encouraged to engage with their surroundings, building confidence and teamwork while gaining a deeper understanding of local wildlife and coastal environments. Rotating sessions ensure participants experience each activity throughout the week.

On land, the program expands into additional adventure-based learning with archery, disc golf, rock climbing, and guided nature walks. These activities are designed to promote coordination, problem-solving, and physical fitness while reinforcing lessons about the region’s ecosystems and native species. The balance of water and land experiences creates a well-rounded outdoor curriculum.

The camp operates across multiple locations, including the Rowing & Sailing Center, Mid Island Tract, and the Island Recreation Center. All equipment, including fishing gear, bait, and safety equipment, is provided by staff, who supervise all activities to ensure a safe environment. With structured scheduling, expert guidance, and a focus on both fun and learning, the program offers children an engaging and memorable outdoor experience.
