Outing - Sunset Kayaking - North Park

Enjoy a serene evening on North Park Lake with our Sunset Paddle outing, perfect for beginners and families. This two-hour experience invites participants ages three and up to glide across the calm, flatwater lake while taking in the city views and a beautiful sunset. Led by our trained Kayak Pittsburgh Excursionists, the session begins on land with an introduction to kayaking gear and basic paddling techniques. Once on the water, guides accompany the group, offering tips and ensuring safety throughout the paddle. North Park Lake is free of currents and motorized watercraft, making it ideal for new paddlers or those looking for a relaxed evening on the water.

Participants will cover roughly one to one and a half miles depending on pace. Paddlers under thirteen must use a tandem kayak with an adult, and everyone must have their own ticket. The outing is beginner-friendly, slow paced, and focuses on safety while maximizing enjoyment. Participants are encouraged to dress for the weather, wear comfortable shoes, and bring water. Those bringing their own non-motorized kayak should ensure it is seaworthy, as staff will inspect all boats before departure. Rental kayaks, paddles, and PFDs are available for those without equipment.
