Outing - Pride Paddle - North Park

Celebrate queer joy on the water with a two hour Pride Paddle at North Park Boathouse. This beginner friendly kayaking experience is perfect for anyone wanting to enjoy a relaxed paddle while meeting others in the LGBTQIA+ community. Participants will start on land with guidance from trained Kayak Pittsburgh Excursionists, learning the basics of kayaking, paddling techniques, and proper use of equipment. Once everyone is comfortable, the group will head out onto the flatwater lake, exploring its calm waters at a leisurely pace.

North Park Lake provides a safe and enjoyable environment for new paddlers. Children under thirteen must paddle in a tandem kayak with an adult, and all participants must meet the minimum weight of thirty five pounds and age of three years. The distance covered is roughly one to one and a half miles, and reservations close twenty four hours prior to the event. Dress for the weather, wear quick drying clothes and closed toe shoes, and bring water to stay hydrated. Rental equipment is included if you do not bring your own kayak, paddle, and life jacket, and staff will inspect personal kayaks for safety before the trip begins.
