Celebrate queer joy and community spirit with a two-hour Pride Paddle at the scenic North Park Boathouse. This beginner-friendly kayaking experience is designed for those who want to enjoy a relaxed time on the water while connecting with others in the LGBTQIA+ community. The calm, flatwater environment of North Park Lake provides the perfect backdrop for a leisurely paddle, allowing participants to focus on the beauty of nature and the camaraderie of the group.

The session begins on land, where our trained Kayak Pittsburgh excursionists will teach you the basics of kayaking, including proper paddling techniques and equipment usage. Once everyone feels comfortable and confident, the group will head out onto the lake to explore at a gentle pace. Covering roughly one to one and a half miles, this excursion is ideal for those looking for a low-pressure, inclusive outdoor activity that emphasizes fun and social interaction.

Safety and accessibility remain top priorities for this event. Children under thirteen must be accompanied by an adult in a tandem kayak, and all participants must meet the minimum weight requirement of thirty-five pounds and be at least three years old. We provide all necessary rental equipment, including life jackets, to ensure everyone is prepared. If you choose to bring your own gear, our staff will perform a safety inspection before you head out.

To make the most of your day, please dress for the weather and wear quick-drying clothing along with closed-toe shoes. Bringing a water bottle is highly recommended to stay hydrated throughout the two-hour session. This event is a wonderful way to enjoy the outdoors while celebrating diversity and inclusion.
