Gordon Bay Paddleboarding Session Combines Skills Training with Scenic Lake Exploration
Gordon Bay Provincial Park is offering a structured paddleboarding experience that blends hands-on instruction with relaxed exploration of Cowichan Lake. Guests begin their visit by following clear signage from the Day Use or Boat Launch parking areas to the Paddle Pod, where check-in and preparation take place.
At arrival, staff verify identification and guide participants through setup of essential equipment, including paddleboards, paddles, personal flotation devices, dry bags, and smartphone pouches. A secure storage option is also available for personal belongings, allowing guests to focus fully on the on-water experience.
The session begins with a guided warm-up designed to build comfort and confidence before heading onto the lake. Participants then learn and apply foundational paddleboarding techniques while becoming familiar with changing water conditions and safety protocols under instructor supervision.
The experience continues with a guided paddle toward the Gordon Bay Islands, offering time to practice new skills while enjoying the calm surroundings of Cowichan Lake. Breaks along the route allow for rest and reflection before returning to shore, creating a balanced outing that combines instruction, practice, and scenic exploration in a single structured session.
