Excellent, expertly run operation. Highly recommend and will be back. Weather and snowpack can be pretty unpredictable in AK. This team brings decades of knowledge to the table - two days in a row they knew exactly where to find us sun, fresh snow and safe lines and routes that were fun and challenging for our group. And it seems those ingredients weren’t omnipresent across all the potential mountain options while we were there. Learned a lot about snowpack and avalanches from our inimitable guide Merrick Johnston, who is a ball of energy and committed to finding ways to make each day playful and fun. We got first tracks both days, built a jump, learned a bunch, and stayed safe. 10/10

Can’t recommend girdwood backcountry guides enough. I was picked up in a rad blue truck, then had top to bottom untracked runs at turnagain pass all day. Still smiling, plan on getting more days with them.
