Experience the art of creating a serene mini Zen Garden on a secret rooftop, surrounded by lush greenery and the gentle hum of bees. This hands-on workshop, guided by a professional landscaper, introduces you to the beauty and philosophy of Japanese Zen gardens. Learn how to incorporate principles like Austerity and Asymmetry while placing softscape elements such as rocks representing mountains and bridges symbolizing portals to another plane. Enjoy the calm atmosphere as you craft your own living garden, complete with a mini bonsai centerpiece, and end your session with a relaxing cup of sake.

Discover how each component of a Zen Garden holds meaning, from sand patterns to natural decorations. Explore your creativity as you design, assemble, and personalize your miniature landscape. By the end of this 1.5-hour workshop, you will take home a fully functional, living Zen Garden that you can tend to and enjoy for years. This immersive experience combines art, mindfulness, and nature, making it a perfect creative escape for enthusiasts of all ages.

Beautiful but small, variety of plants and trees. Definitely not wheelchair accessible throughout as lots of steps. Can bring buggy through but be prepared to carry over 3-4 steps at a time, some at an incline and many downhill as the entire Japanese garden is downhill and a steep climb back. It’s a shame as some of it has lovely paved paths but to access the pretty scenery you have to go over bridges with steps at the start and end.

Kildare's Japanese Gardens are an oasis of tranquillity melding Ireland's verdant beauty with Japan's serene aesthetics. Symbolic landscaping represents life's journey, amidst tranquil ponds and artful elements. Significantly more than a botanical tour, it's a deep dive into philosophy, culture and mindfulness.
