Hiking Tour in Bandelier National Monument

The Heritage Inspirations Bandelier Hiking Tour is a full-day adventure lasting approximately seven hours. Guests meet at the Heritage Inspirations Travel Hub & E-Bike Shop inside the Inn & Spa at Loretto at 8:00am, and the tour returns around 3:00pm. Bandelier National Monument is located roughly 50 miles northwest of Santa Fe, with about an hour of driving each way. The tour includes entry to Bandelier National Monument, a delicious lunch, and guidance from a professional, certified guide trained in First Aid, CPR, and Leave No Trace principles. Guests are encouraged to wear comfortable, breathable, layered clothing and hiking boots suitable for the terrain, and to bring a rain layer, hat, sunglasses, two water bottles or a hydration pack, and a backpack for personal belongings. Gratuities for the guide are not included in the tour cost.

Hiking at Bandelier includes moderate trails and some elevation gain. The Tsankawi Unit involves a 1.5-mile hike with climbing, narrow passages, and three ladders along the trail, though it is temporarily closed for construction from mid-March to late-October 2023. Guests will spend the day exploring the main Bandelier trail, which is approximately 1.25 miles, paved in some areas, and features narrow stairs leading to the iconic Cliff Dwellings and Long House. The tour provides ample opportunity to experience the unique geology, rich history, and cultural significance of the area, making it suitable for hikers looking for an engaging, educational, and moderately challenging adventure.
