i never got close to the island itself, but 10 years ago i spent the summer in san clemente and could see the island from the balcony. everyday we would hear what i assume to have been weapon testing, but very loud noise and vibration, it was super interesting to experience. i wish there was a way for me to learn more in here but it seems to all be very confidential.

I used to commercial fish and stay overnight at the island.do not go ashore. Great place to fish and dive.

Great place to scuba dive and fish. In the 1990s, I caught my first Calico bass spearfishing while scuba diving. I tried sea urchin for the first time while I was diving in 30 ft of water. I took out my regulator and popped in a sea urchin quickly before the fish got it. The fish were swimming in the frenzy, going crazy for sea urchin. We saw the "Navy Seals" doing some activities on the beach. We kept our distance, and it didn't seem like it was a problem with the military personnel. No one bothered us. It was a great experience.

Really good place to get away. The marine life and scenery is on another level.

Decent fishing if your captain does his job, lots of marine life around the island! On our last trip out there we saw large pods of dolphins, bald eagles, sea turtles, and a whale. Pretty epic!
