Zoo Badge Workshops Offer Hands-On Learning for Scouts

A series of interactive badge-earning workshops at the zoo is offering scout groups an engaging opportunity to explore animals, habitats, and conservation through hands-on learning experiences. Designed for educational enrichment, the programs combine guided tours, animal encounters, and creative activities in a structured and immersive setting.

The Brownie Pets Badge Workshop introduces participants to the differences between wild animals and domestic pets while emphasizing responsible animal care. Scouts learn about animal diets, meet select animals up close, and participate in an enrichment activity by creating a toy for a zoo animal, encouraging empathy and curiosity in a practical learning environment.

The Junior Animal Habitats Badge Workshop provides a deeper exploration of ecosystems and biodiversity. Through guided zoo tours and interactive learning stations, participants study habitats, endangered species, and conservation efforts while developing observation skills and environmental awareness.

Both programs are designed with limited group sizes to ensure meaningful engagement and a high-quality educational experience. Sessions are offered on select weekdays, with the structured format encouraging teamwork, discovery, and a stronger connection to the natural world.
