We came here in the morning and saw all the pandas happily munching on bamboos. The place is really nice and clear, very easy to walk around. They also have shuttle services.

Visited in winter. Able to see pandas and red pandas up close. Well maintained environment, pleasant walk around the base. Clean toilets. Spent about 3 hours leisurely. Ticket purchase available via WeChat and on-site at park entrance.

Visiting the Chengdu Field Research Center for Giant Pandas near Dujiangyan was a winter highlight! Arriving at 8:30 AM in late December meant low crowds and a peaceful, misty morning walk. The intuitive layout, informative storyboards, and clearly labeled signage made navigation effortless. We didn’t feel the need for a translator at all! Following the path, we enjoyed the giant panda enclosures first before reaching the charming free-ranging red panda area at the end.

This research and rewilding-focused centre represents a quieter, more conservation-driven side of Chengdu’s panda preservation efforts. Designed with an emphasis on rehabilitation and preparation for eventual release into the wild, it plays a complementary role to the city’s larger, more visitor-oriented panda base. Set within a more natural environment, the centre reflects a shift toward habitat simulation and long-term ecological thinking rather than exhibition. Highlights • Smaller in scale compared to the main Chengdu panda base, making it easier and more manageable to explore. • Pandas are just as spectacular, with ample opportunities to observe them in thoughtfully designed enclosures. • The focus remains on conservation and rewilding rather than purely visitor experience. • A good alternative for those who want a complete panda experience without the scale of the main research base. A more intimate, purpose-driven panda centre that delivers the same sense of wonder in a different setting. Rating: 5/5.

Senior above 65 enters for free for all nationalities . Not so crowded. Got chance to see all the giant panda. Left Chengdu city at 800am, reach the entrance at 830am by Didi. All done by 1030. Good to visit during their feeding time so you can see them coming out to open area to eat. A lot clean toilet in the park. Be remind that the temperature at this area is lower than Chengdu city if u going during spring , so wear appropriately.
