Private Day Trip to Pingyao from Xi'an by Bullet Train

Your day begins early at 7:00 am when your guide meets you in the lobby of your Xi'an hotel, holding a sign with your name. You will then be transferred to Xi’an North Railway Station to board a 3-hour bullet train bound for Pingyao. Upon arrival, you will be driven to Pingyao Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997. Known for its remarkably well-preserved Ming and Qing dynasty architecture, Pingyao offers a glimpse into ancient China where the local community still lives within the historic city walls and Confucius Temple Pingyao. The town retains its original layout with four main streets extending in all directions from the central landmark, the Shilou (City Tower), which you can climb to enjoy panoramic views of the old city. Walking along the stone-paved streets, you’ll find shops and houses that reflect centuries-old charm and tradition.

Pingyao was once China’s financial hub during the late Qing Dynasty, and the old town is home to more than 20 former banking institutions that have been converted into museums. Among them, Rishengchang is the most notable, representing the beginnings of China's banking history. In addition to these financial landmarks, you’ll visit other cultural highlights such as the ancient city wall, Yamen (government office), and Confucius Temple. During your free time, you can enjoy a local lunch at your own expense, with Pingyao’s signature beef and handmade noodles highly recommended. In the late afternoon, you’ll return to Pingyao Railway Station to catch the bullet train back to Xi’an. Upon arrival, a private transfer will return you to your hotel in Xi’an, marking the end of a long but enriching day exploring the historical treasures of Pingyao.
