We were incredibly lucky to take part in an aurora reindeer sleigh ride, which turned out to be one of the most beautiful experiences we have ever had. It was truly touching to see how loving and respectful Erik was with his reindeer. He made sure we stayed warm throughout the ride in temperatures below -30°C and even provided us with down duvets. Being carried by the reindeer while watching the northern lights was simply indescribable. We were especially fortunate to witness a rare golden aurora — something Erik himself had never seen before. He also took amazing photos of both the aurora and us, which we will treasure forever. After the ride, Erik invited us into a warm lávvu by the fire, where we enjoyed homemade cinnamon buns baked by his wife and daughter, along with sausages and hot tea. We were grateful for the opportunity to learn so much about Sámi culture and traditions. To top it all off, we even received a gift at the end: two reindeer antlers. We encourage everyone to make the journey up north and to support Erik‘s business.
We had an incredibly happy and memorable experience at this farm. Erik welcomed us warmly and enthusiastically even in the cold weather. He gave us professional explanations about the reindeer and Sámi culture. We fed the adorable reindeer, enjoyed a sled ride, and had snacks in a warm tent. We were truly touched by Erik’s kindness, and he even gave us a small gift. We will proudly display it at home. Thank you so much for everything!
Erik took time out of his busy day to incorporate us into the care of his reindeers. Preparing the reindeer, sleigh riding and feeding the reindeer was accompanied by interesting insights into the daily life of a reindeer herder and information on the animals themselves. Snacks, hot drinks and warm stories about his family business inside his traditional lavvu completed the experience. Highly educational and incredibly fun. Definitely recommended!
