The most spectacular cave I've ever been to. Very large, with extremely old formations. Too bad they had to destroy a large part of it to make it accessible. If you don't arrive 40 minutes before, you have to wait another hour until the next group comes. There are no buses in high season, only by boat or your own car, or taxi.
The cave is so awesome. This was the most beautiful cave I have ever seen, especially given we were there almost alone and had plenty of time to go through without the masses. Went to the cave in the middle of October 2025, so pretty off season, went for the first opening time at 9:00 and that was the best decision we could have done. We arrived at the parking lot "La scala" before 8, got the bus at 8 AM to the capo caccio and waited for the cave to open. We were there only 4 people together on the first entry. The path down the stairs took around 10 minutes max since we weren't slowed down by any masses like other people when going during high season. We had extra detailed tour, which lasted around 30 minutes, the guide spoke nice English and Italian. Explained everything in detail, had good knowledge of the cave and the processes. The way back up took around 10 minutes again, as this time we didn't stop by to take photos. In the morning the path to the cave is in the shade, so the sun wasn't an issue. We went to the green cave right after, as the green cave opens up at 10AM. People who say the stairs are problem are rather unfit. Definitely do not recommend unfit people to take the stairs. You can take a boat from the Alghero to the cave.
Amazing caves that are 65 million years old that have a salt water lake as there is an underwater tunnel connecting it to the sea. Really a must see if you are in the area. You get an entrance time with your ticket (every 30 mins) and it takes about 15 mins to walk down. Then you must wait for the guided tour for entry, which is in Italian and English. Overall, we spent 1.5 hours in total. There are 2 ways to get here, either by boat tour or coming down and up the 654 steps along the side of the cliffs. We took the stairs after biking there. There is no parking at the entrance so you have to walk or go to the free parking areas and pay for the shuttle bus.
