This self-guided format gives you the freedom to stop, explore, and enjoy the river environment without the constraints of a strictly timed group tour.
Participants are responsible for their own logistics, including returning with their group and equipment to the rental base, as transportation back to Ohiopyle is not provided. Many guests choose to use two vehicles or consider renting a bike for the return trip to make the logistics easier. Please remember that on the day of your excursion, registration and the purchase of a launch ticket from Ohiopyle State Park are required to ensure you are fully prepared for your river adventure.

We went on a six-person rafting tour on the Middle Youghiogheny River this past Sunday, August 17, and it was unforgettable. We started off on a beautiful hot, sunny day—perfect for rafting. We had so much fun, even laughing when we got stuck on the rocks. Then out of nowhere, a huge storm rolled in with lightning, thunder, heavy rain, and falling trees. It got freezing cold, and at one point we even had to make our way off the river and flip the raft over to huddle underneath because the kids were shivering. Scary in the moment, but we all made it through safely. After the storm passed, we looked up and saw a bald eagle soaring over the river—it felt like a good omen and a perfect reminder of the beauty around us. By the time we got back, EMS and police were there due to storm damage. It was wild, but now we have an amazing story to tell. The river was beautiful, the rafting was a blast, and the company was great—helpful, professional, and made the experience memorable. This is a trip we’ll NEVER forget!
