Beautiful little space in an absolutely stunning area. Amazing food, helpful staff (thank you so much to Julz who managed to get a jacket I left behind back to the UK!), lovely spacious rooms and so much to do whether it's kayaking, swimming, hiking, feeding eels or visiting the local glow worms. A real treat to visit, highly recommend!
A great spot to stay along the Abel Tasman track. 5 minutes walk to the beautiful beach and kayaking. Clean comfortable quiet rooms with a good shower. Excellent breakfast and dinner. Very pleasant helpful staff. I would love to come back..
Overall, the stay was mixed and didn’t fully meet expectations of a luxury lodge retreat in a national park. While the setting suggests tranquillity and escape, the reality felt more functional than restful, which was disappointing. What stood out: • Room: we stayed in the Superior Suite (one of the higher-category rooms), which was a good size with a nice layout and a comfortable corner sofa — this worked well and was one of the positives • Staff: generally friendly and helpful, though service felt fairly functional rather than particularly warm or polished • Bathroom: very dated and not clean enough, which was the biggest issue for us and detracted noticeably from the overall experience • Communal areas: the main lodge areas felt tired and in need of better cleaning and general maintenance, which further impacted the sense of calm • Food: the restaurant food was very good, albeit with a limited menu — compliments to the chef, who clearly excels and stood out as a highlight of the stay Overall, there were some positives, but expectations around tranquillity and lodge quality felt misleading, and the property would benefit significantly from refurbishment and higher standards of cleanliness to better align with its positioning and pricing.
