Great Craic! We loved this! As nice as it is to sit in a boat and be driven there's nothing like being your own pilot in a fast boat. It's not crazy high speed but you make good enough speed - there IS a difference however, on how many people are in the boat. We started off with 2 adults and 3 teenagers - and were going slow enough - and seeing as we were determined to make it down river to Ballynatray house, Vinny took the 3 teens with him and gave them turns on his more powerful boat - which of course, they loved. It also meant the two of us could go a lot faster on our boat. Vinny was great with the kids and they loved it. So we got to see the two Strancally castles (new and old), Coolbagh quay, Ballinaclash quay, Ballynatray house, Molena Abbey, Templemichael and sight of Youghal bridge. Also interesting is the depth finder on the boat - surprised that the river is mostly only 14-16 feet except for the 50+ around Cooneen and 35 around Old Strancally. It was about 2 hours plus and we got to see loads. Would definitely recommend.
We very much enjoyed the tour out with Jason. Great time, plenty of history of the area given, and Jason was very friendly. The views from the Blackwater River are beautiful. Would definitely do it again!
The self driving from Blackwater Eco Tours was incredible and full of impression for my son. It was a great family time.
