Wooden Race Car Workshop Combines Craftsmanship and Competition
Participants can channel both their creativity and competitive spirit in an interactive workshop that guides them through the process of designing, building, and racing their very own wooden race car. Led by experienced instructors from Craftsman Ave, the hands-on experience transforms a simple block of wood into a personalized speed machine, offering an exciting introduction to woodworking and design in a fun and welcoming environment.
Throughout the workshop, guests learn essential woodworking techniques as they shape, carve, and assemble their race cars using a variety of tools and materials. With expert guidance provided at every stage, participants are encouraged to experiment with design ideas and engineering concepts while creating a vehicle that reflects their individual style and imagination.
Once construction is complete, the excitement shifts from the workbench to the racetrack. Participants put their handcrafted creations to the test on a vintage Pinewood Derby track, competing against fellow builders in a series of friendly races. The event adds an element of anticipation and camaraderie as guests cheer on their creations and celebrate the performance of each unique vehicle.
Awards are presented in a variety of categories, including fastest car, slowest car, best-looking design, and most unique creation, ensuring that creativity and originality are recognized alongside speed. Blending hands-on craftsmanship, artistic expression, and lighthearted competition, the workshop offers an engaging experience that leaves participants with lasting memories and a custom-built race car to take home.

Customer Reviews
We had a brilliant time celebrating our son’s 7th birthday with Pinewood Raceway. The whole day was extremely well organised and ran smoothly from start to finish. Steve was excellent. His communication beforehand was clear and reliable and on the day everything was run efficiently and professionally which made the experience completely stress-free. The kids absolutely loved it and were entertained the entire time and it definitely wasn’t just for them as the adults had a blast too! Such a fun and unique experience for everyone. Would highly recommend Pinewood Raceway and a big thank you to Steve for delivering such a great day!
Another fantastic event. We came here for a Scouting evening and the children and adults really enjoyed it. We all had a great time. The man running it made it very enjoyable and it was great to see everyone taking part and trying to win. He obviously loves the sport and that came across. Would definitely recommend having a go.
Our Scouts had a fantastic evening! Great set up and tracks, and a wonderful host. We'll be going again. Highly recommended!
