Welcome to a tour that perfectly blends the rich history, charming architecture, and flavorful culinary traditions of Durrës. The experience begins at 09:00 am at the Sports Palace “Ramazan Njala,” where participants are encouraged to arrive with light appetites, ready to indulge in the delicious Albanian foods that await. The first stop is the lively farmer’s market, a colorful display of local fruits, vegetables, and Mediterranean goods that offer a glimpse into the region’s agricultural richness. From there, the group heads to a local “Byrek” shop, where you’ll savor one of Albania’s most beloved traditional dishes. Byrek is a savory pie, typically filled with cheese or minced meat, and to enjoy it like a local, it’s best paired with “dhallë,” a refreshing yogurt-based drink. As the tour continues along Durrës' main boulevard, you’ll encounter elegant examples of Italian-era architecture and explore vibrant shops and cafes that have flourished since the end of the communist period.
Following the walk, guests will have the chance to unwind with a cup of traditional Turkish coffee at a cozy café. In Albanian culture, coffee time is cherished — a moment to relax, laugh, and share stories with friends. Refreshed, the journey proceeds to the grand Roman Amphitheater, a monumental structure built under Emperor Trajan in the early 2nd century AD. With a seating capacity of around 20,000, it stands as the largest amphitheater in the Balkans, reflecting the city's historical importance in the Roman Empire. After immersing in centuries of history, the tour concludes with a walk to Durrës’ scenic promenade, known locally as “Vollga.” Overlooking the Adriatic Sea, this is the perfect setting to enjoy a traditional Albanian lunch, wrapping up a day of cultural discovery, architectural marvels, and unforgettable flavors.

We had such an amazing experience on this food tour in Tirana! Every stop offered delicious traditional Albanian dishes — there was so much incredible food that we didn’t even need dinner afterward. Each bite felt authentic and full of local flavor. Our guide, Ariola, was absolutely wonderful — warm, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable. She made sure everyone was happy, explained the food and some hidden sights on the way, and added such a personal touch to the experience. She even sent us a recipe and pictures after the tour. If you want to truly taste and understand Albanian culture, this tour is an absolute must. Highly recommend!

Ariola is an amazing food guide! I got to explore so much of traditional food in Albania with this carefully curated food tour of these local shops I would otherwise have not been able to find on my own. Besides, the portions for the tastings are extremely extremely generous and I would suggest coming with an empty stomach! 😊 A heartfelt thanks to Ariola for going above and beyond (and even extending beyond the tour hours) so that we have a wonderful time with her clear explanation and enjoyed it at a leisurely pace.

I was lucky to go on an exclusive food tour in Tirana with Ariola. Thank you very much for running the tour even though the minimum number of participants was not reached! The different stops are carefully selected and give you a good first impression of the flavors of Albania. You can especially look forward to the first stop, provided Ariola keeps the same order. Of course, I won't reveal the name of the place here. 😎 Thank you, Ariola, for the culinary journey and all the stories you shared along the way. Highly recommend to join the tour!

One of the best food tours I have done!! Airiola was the perfect guide. Friendly and very knowledgable of Albania, Tirana and of course, the local food. There was lots to eat at various locations around Tirana and it was fun interacting with the locals and owners. Thank you for a great Albanian food experience!

The tour was great! Ariola took me to several local restaurants and I tried the most traditional dishes! Ariola is a great guide! She told me a lot about Albanian cuisine and about the history of Albania. Also, I did the tour alone and it was like a private tour! I'll definitely do more tours with them:)
