We visited a number of distilleries in the Louville area and Maker's Mark definitely made a TOP 3. We loved the drive through the remote areas to get there. The guest building was neat, full of artwork, with a restaurant and a terrace in the back to enjoy a cocktail while waiting for your turn to begin. We loved the entire campus, filled with Dale Chihuly glass artwork everywhere we went. The modern artworks are a great addition to the old-school distillery look. We got to see the actual distillery house, the warehouse, bottling factory (that's where they dip the bottles in a wax), experienced the tasting of cask strength, French-oaked 46 and well-known straight bourbon. In the actual store, you can wax-dip your own bottle and purchase all sorts of merchandise. We left with a sense of satisfaction and are planning to be back here for more experience.
Came back 2 months later for A Magical Evening! Chihuly After Hours Event at Maker's Mark is a Must-Experience Attending the after-hours Dale Chihuly event at Maker's Mark Distillery was an absolutely magical and unforgettable experience! Seeing the world-renowned glass sculptures all lit up against the beautiful backdrop of the distillery grounds after sunset was truly breathtaking and surreal. The lighting made the art seem alive. The evening was incredibly well-organized, with a fantastic atmosphere all around. They had a great variety of offerings, including perfectly crafted cocktails and generous tastings of Maker's Mark. The food situation was excellent, too: a fun pizza truck provided delicious savory pizzas, and there were lots of wonderful snacks and desserts available to enjoy throughout the night. It was the perfect blend of high-end art appreciation and classic Kentucky hospitality. If they host this event again, do not miss it—it’s a spectacular way to see the distillery in a unique light! ~~~~~~~~~~~~originally from Oct 2025~~~~~~~~~~~ We arrived a little early as we new the GPS guidance would be a problem, and it was, a little. As we got closer, we followed the signs which really made it easy! We had arrived early and reserved a table for lunch (amazing!) and then took the 'remarkable tour' with Alexis as the guide. Alexis was also remarkable! It really is a fascinating tour, and the property from the visitors center (more like art gallery!) to the gift shop, to the rickhouse, tasting room celler, and grounds are just stunning! Our hands down favorite place for dining, and tour! A must on everyones visit to the bourbon trail, and we are already planning the next visit here!
I am a Bourbon man, my wife went for the blown glass art exhibit. Today was the last day of the art exhibit. Our guide Bailey was fantastic, deep knowledge of Makers Mark and Bourbon in general. Keeping the tour moving while showcasing the pride of the Makers family. Everyone we interacted with were very friendly and professional! Very impressed with staff.
