Quick entry, friendly staff. Thanks!
Darren

This is probably the most spectacular church or basilica I’ve ever been to. The art is truly breathtaking and you’ll need at least a couple of hours to explore it all. We arrived at around 8am on a Thursday after buying tickets the previous day and there were no queues. Climbing to the top is also worth it for the view but be warned there are quite a few steps. This place is a must visit if you’re in Rome.

Well worth the line skip. Thank you ALEX :-)

on pensait avoir une visite de groupe, mais au final nous étions que quatre. le guide nous accompagné jusqu'à la basilique nous a fait entrer et nous a laissé seul au monde. on aurait préféré y aller toute seule et faire la queue. franchement je déconseille.

Visiting Saint Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City is an unforgettable highlight of any trip to Rome. It is one of the most famous and revered churches in the world, known as a major pilgrimage site and a masterpiece of Renaissance architecture designed by famous artists including Michelangelo, Bramante, and Bernini. You can walk through its vast, stunning interior to admire incredible artwork such as Michelangelo’s Pietà, Bernini’s Baldachin over the main altar, and many other artistic treasures. The basilica stands on the traditional burial site of Saint Peter, one of Jesus’s apostles and the first Bishop of Rome, which gives the place deep spiritual significance for many visitors. Entrance to the basilica itself is free, though there is a fee if you choose to climb up to the dome for spectacular panoramic views of St. Peter’s Square and Rome. It is open daily in the morning until early evening (generally around 7 AM to 7 PM in summer), and arriving early helps you enjoy the space with fewer crowds. The surrounding St. Peter’s Square is also an architectural marvel and a great place to explore before or after your visit. Many travelers find that spending a couple of hours here gives a rich mix of art, history, spirituality, and breathtaking beauty, making Saint Peter’s Basilica a highly recommended must-see for anyone visiting Rome.

Magnificent place with astounding architecture and steeped with history. All the gold, marble and sculptures inside are very beautiful, to say the least. There is no ticket required to enter the square or the basilica. There is a security check before entering St Peter's square. Wearing large backpacks are not recommended. And you can attend a Catholic Mass led by the Pope on Sunday mornings. However I noticed on that day visitors aren't allowed to bring in water hence there was a pile of water tumblers and plastic bottles outside the security check on that day. Not sure if this happens on other days as well. There is a gift shop in the basilica where you can buy various Catholic religious items, such as rosaries and crucifixes - or you could buy a simple fridge magnet and postcard. Interestingly, there is a priest stationed in a booth right outside the hallway leading to the giftshop who can bless your religious paraphernalia. However, many tourists seem to think he is an information booth to ask for directions. In the square outside, there is post office to buy stamps and also another gift shop. A post box to drop your mail or post cards is just outside the post office.

One of the most beautiful cathedrals I've been to. The level of Craftsmanship is absolutely astounding. Everything from thd grand scale to thd mosaics, colors and statues is just phenomenal. Anyone who can climb the dome, I cant recommend highly enough. Thd views ard just spectacular. As for technicality - for those who want to avoid the lines, come early. Just make sure there's a good visibility if you plan to go up the dome. Take the elevator/ stairs ticket for 10 € and enjoy.

Awesome and powerful!!!! The artworks and architecture leave you feeling inspired and uplifted! This place is so holy. You feel the power of God here. The building itself is an architectural marvel, and the inside is filled with incredible works of art. It’s definitely worth the trip to see it, you will be amazed. If you can handle many stairs, it is definitely worth it to go to the top of the dome. There’s an elevator to take you halfway up, but you’ll have to climb the stairs the rest of the way and it’s not an easy climb. However, the view from the top is breathtaking and you can see the entire Vatican City and Rome. Be prepared for large crowds of tourists everywhere inside and outside! I went on a weekday during off-season and it was still packed. Loved all the artwork of our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ! All glory to God! Amen!
