I booked my hot air balloon experience with Tlatoani Tours (Mexico City) and it was one of the highlights of my trip to Mexico City. Pickup was very early in the morning from my hotel in Polanco, and the driver arrived on time. We collected another guest on the way and headed to the main meeting point. The check-in process was very organized: we signed in, were given lockers to store personal belongings, and received stickers to identify which balloon group we would be flying with. Breakfast was available at the meeting point, though I skipped it because I was saving all my courage for the flight (I’m afraid of heights!). Our guides spoke English very well, which made everything easy to understand and ask questions throughout the day. From there, we took a short drive to the launch site — and then the magic really began. The balloon ride was absolutely beautiful. We were up in the air right around sunrise, and watching the sky slowly light up over the Teotihuacan pyramids was breathtaking. It honestly felt surreal floating among dozens of colorful balloons. There was also a professional photographer using a drone who took amazing pictures and videos for an additional fee. After landing, we had a small celebration with our pilot, including a champagne toast to celebrate our flight. Then we went to a cave restaurant for breakfast, which was such a unique experience. The food was good, and we also had the chance to explore parts of the caves and learn a bit about tequila and Mexican culture. We later continued to the Teotihuacan pyramids. Be prepared for a fair amount of walking here — comfortable shoes are a must. The views and history are worth every step. At the end of the tour, our driver dropped us back at our hotel. Overall, this was a wonderfully organized and memorable experience. Even as someone who is scared of heights, I felt safe the entire time and was able to just enjoy the views. If you’re visiting Mexico City and considering a hot air balloon ride, I highly recommend Tlatoani Tours. It’s an experience I will never forget.
Just very well done from beginning to end. We did not use their transport and instead hired an Uber from Roma which was easy and we felt gave us more flexibility. So I can't comment on their transport. On arrival, we were greeted by uniformed staff who had an area with waivers set up for us. We were offered cookies and delicious coffee and were able to wait by a heat lamp while we watched preparations and the inflation of the balloons. The staff were generally young, friendly, and professional. The process for getting visitors onto balloons was well organized. The pilots had a professional vibe that was confidence-inspiring. And the journey was just smooth and beautiful. I'd never been in a hot air balloon, but the ride was very gentle. One interesting detail is that landing the balloon takes a long time. That's why they say 30 to 60 minutes. We probably spent thirty minutes trying to find a spot to land which I think is normal because you're a little bit at the mercy of the wind. It was still fun; it was just interesting. There was some upsell to buy photos and drone videos and add-on activities. But it was very gentle, and they were not particularly pushy. Generally just very, very pleased and excited with the experience. I recommend this company highly.
I booked this tour based on a friend’s recommendation. It’s always been on my bucket list to do hot air balloons and see the pyramids. This is the perfect 2 birds with 1 stone. The price was very reasonable, round trip transportation is included, as well as a toast, flight certificate, tequila tasting, and breakfast. Communication was very consistent. Special thank you to Gavi, Fernando, Ulises and Guillermo for making this experience for my birthday so wonderful. Highly recommend and we will be back!
