People that rate nature less than 5 stars need some perspective. People that rate Waimea Canyon less than 5 stars are certifiably screwy. This canyon is incredible. It's insanely majestic. Words don't do it justice. There's a hike that takes you through every type of habitat on the island. It's wet, muddy and jungly perfect. This hike gets you to one of the best views of the canyon. The icing on the cake is the waterfall at the end! Take a swim and cool off for the return journey.
Like a smaller version of the Grand Canyon only a lot greener! Helicopter is the best way to experience this. Still it's quite breathtaking even from the roadway.
A definite must see. We actually went up twice this trip. Lots of people were hiking. We didn’t but went and saw it. Beautiful weather. Be careful one tourist climbed up the side of a hill and if he had fallen when it slipped it would have been over. Enjoy.
