After picking you up from your accommodation and outfitting you with warm winter gear suitable for Arctic conditions (temperatures can drop to -30°C!), your expert Northern Lights guide will drive you away from Rovaniemi and into the untouched wilderness to begin your Aurora hunting adventure. The start time of the tour is carefully adjusted based on daily weather forecasts and solar activity reports to maximize your chances of seeing the Northern Lights. If local conditions near Rovaniemi aren’t ideal, your guide may drive you further into Lapland to find clearer skies—even up to three different locations within the 4-hour tour. Throughout the excursion, you'll journey through breathtaking landscapes including snow-covered forests, frozen lakes, and rivers, with the goal of finding the perfect spot to witness the magical Northern Lights.
Midway through the evening, you'll enjoy a break around an open campfire where your guide will prepare hot drinks and a traditional Finnish snack of grilled sausages and toasted bread. You'll also learn how to start a fire using flint & steel and materials gathered from the surrounding nature—no matches or lighters needed. This is a great time to ask your guide questions about Lapland, the Arctic way of life, and the Northern Lights. To preserve your memories, your guide will take professional photos of the experience, which will be shared with you the next day. You’re also welcome to bring your own camera, and tripods are available for rent or purchase. With a group size limited to just 8 participants and a minimum age of 5, the tour ensures a more intimate, quiet, and personalized experience—perfect for maximizing your chances of seeing the Aurora Borealis.
