Discover the peaceful beauty of Lapland in summer with a guided canoeing adventure through its serene lakes and rivers. Finland, often called the Land of a Thousand Lakes, is home to over 188,000 lakes—many of which are nestled in Lapland's untouched wilderness. As you glide quietly over the calm waters, you may spot local wildlife such as geese, swans, cranes, and otters in their natural habitat. This relaxing activity is not only a great way to connect with nature, but also a respectful and eco-friendly way to explore this Arctic region.
Your experience begins with an introduction from a qualified canoe guide, who will teach you the basic techniques of canoeing and provide essential safety instructions. You’ll learn how to handle the paddles, steer your canoe, and what to do in case of capsizing. With your guide always nearby to assist, you can enjoy the journey with confidence. As you paddle through the peaceful waters, take in the scenic views and feel the tranquility that Lapland’s nature offers from a unique water-level perspective.
After your canoeing session, you’ll return to shore to warm up around a traditional Finnish campfire. Here, your guide will serve typical campfire snacks and demonstrate how to build and light a fire using flint and steel—no matches or lighter needed. This is also a great moment to learn more about Lapland’s nature, culture, and life in the Arctic. The tour lasts around 3 hours, including transportation, canoeing, and the fireside break. With small groups of no more than 8 participants, this tour offers a personal and immersive experience, far from the crowds of mass tourism. At Wild About Lapland, we believe the smaller the group, the bigger the adventure.

A beautiful canoe tour on the river. Aapo - our guide - even took drone photos of us. A beautiful memory.

We had an absolutely fantastic experience with Arctic Canoe Rental. Communication was top-notch and super easy from start to finish. The canoe and equipment were excellent—perfect for family paddling and great for kids. The river itself was fantastic for canoeing, with beautiful coves and a very calm atmosphere. The staff were super friendly, and the whole rental process was completely hassle-free. Highly recommend! – Denis

Absolutely brilliant service, incredibly convenient and responsive. All of the necessary equipment is provided including generously sized dry bags to keep every safe. Boats and oars all in perfect working order and clearly well kept and clean. The waters around here are so peaceful and stunning. You have to get out there!

Amazing experience! Easy to get the equipments and the canoe just next to the river. Fair price. Good communication. Can’t wait to rent again!!

What an excellent experience! We had a really great time on the river!! The owner was super helpful. He was easily reached by phone and WhatsApp. We contacted him at the evening and he still replied very promptly and politely. He suggested a great route for me and my wife who was new to canoeing. The route was beautiful and the water journey was calm and peaceful. We chose a 6-hour plan which we thought it might be too long and demanding at the beginning but it turns out it was just right, because we spent some time to take pictures on the beaches and visited bourses and sheep. The equipments were in great conditions, and all you need was already included in the 6-hour rental fee in a total of Euro 35. It was such an amazing experience. Even beginners could have fun of canoeing here. Highly recommended.
