It’s a place where locals practice ice fishing during the winter, both to catch food and enjoy the peaceful solitude that Lapland’s nature provides. The journey starts with a pick-up from your accommodation, where you’ll be provided with proper winter gear to keep you warm, as temperatures on the lake can be extremely cold. After a short 5-minute walk through the Arctic forest, you'll arrive at the frozen lake, ready to begin your fishing adventure.
Once at the lake, your guide will teach you the basics of ice fishing, including how to drill a hole in the ice and use the right techniques to catch fish. Patience is key as you wait for your first bite, and during this time, you’ll be surrounded by the complete silence and beauty of the Arctic wilderness. The serene environment is perfect for anyone looking to disconnect and connect with nature. Phenomenal experience! I highly recommend it for both new and experienced anglers. I was searching for a special fishing trip for my son’s birthday when I came across Chris’s website. Not knowing exactly what to expect, I booked a lake fishing trip for two — and it exceeded all expectations. Chris was an amazing and patient instructor, offering just the right amount of guidance to help my son learn without overwhelming him on his very first fishing experience. My son and husband are still talking about what an incredible day it was and are already planning to go again this summer. All i can say is thanks so much Chris for a wonderful day pike fishing. It was excellent. My grandson Frankie was so eager to catch his first pike, and he wasn't disappointed. I had an incredible and unforgettable experience on this fishing day! From start to finish, our guide Chris was knowledgeable, friendly, and truly passionate about what he does. The equipment provided was top-notch, and safety was always a priority. We visited a stunning lough where my friend and I caught two large pike (97cm and 103cm). Chris made sure everyone felt comfortable, regardless of skill level, and shared helpful tips throughout the day. The atmosphere was relaxed and fun, making it a perfect outing for friends or family. I highly recommend, for anyone looking to enjoy a memorable fishing adventure!
We had the best fishing experience with Chris. I got in touch with Chris after reading all the great reviews and decided he would be the ideal person to introduce us to fishing - I was so right! Communication with Chris was great and he was very accommodating on changing the date as the weather was bad the date I had originally booked. We met him at a lake in Bailieborough, Co. Cavan. He had everything set up and ready to go when we arrived. The children (age 9 & 11) were unsure what to expect but after 5 mins they were getting stuck in and catching fish. The delight on their faces was priceless. Chris showed us how to put maggots on the hook and cast the line. He also talked us through the different types of fish in the lake and how to handle them. We caught over 66 fish in 4 hours - so a successful fishing day. He offered us coffee and hot chocolate for the children which was thoughtful. I would highly recommend Chris and Go Fishing Ireland to anyone interested in trying out fishing for the first time and those with more experience.
If I could give Chris 10 stars- I would!! My husband and I visited Ireland in March 2023 and I wanted to do something special for him for our anniversary. We live in NWFL and fishing has always been one of his hobbies and he made a comment about how cool it would be to fish in Ireland. After a Google search I found Chris. He was absolutely WONDERFUL! He was accommodating to the fact we were only using public transit and found us a great place to fish in the town of Virginia. Weather wise, it was not a stellar day. But in between showers we saw beautiful rainbows over the water. My husband smiled ALL DAY long! Chris was very knowledgeable, friendly and full of stories. We laughed so much that day and my husband was able to catch some beautiful fish that we would never catch in the Gulf. Thank you Chris for one of the most memorable parts of our vacation to your home country. It was a perfect day!
