We were confused whether to visit Mercado 28 or Mercado 23. After reading about Mercado 28 being a tourist trap, we decided to visit Mercado 23. We loved this place! Highly recommended for grabbing your souvenirs from CancĂșn! Friendly shopkeepers, fair prices, and a relaxed vibe. We didn't find it touristy at all. During Christmas there are huge options for Christmas decorations. Carry cash; with credit cards you pay 5% extra, but service stays warm! Would highly recommend!
Yes market 23 is a lot more local than market 28 is, it still have some bags and touristy things and trinkets but there's a long lineup of local people trying to buy meat so I guess the prices are good
