Belém and Ajuda Palace Tour

We begin our walking tour in the heart of Lisbon at the central fountain in Jardim da Praça do Império. From there we head to the iconic Monument of the Discoveries, learning about Portugal’s rich maritime history and the explorers who shaped the world. The tour continues to Jeronimos Monastery, a masterpiece of Manueline Gothic architecture, where guests can admire the funerary tombs of Portuguese royalty as well as the tombs of the poet Luís Vaz de Camões and explorer Vasco da Gama. Next, we visit a traditional pastry shop to discover the famous Pasteis de Belem, a delightful treat rooted in centuries-old monastic recipes. Guests may taste these sweet specialties before continuing to Ajuda Palace, the former residence of Queen Maria Pia de Saboia. During the guided tour, visitors will explore opulent rooms including the Throne Room, King’s quarters, and a remarkable collection of decorative arts, paintings, and sculptures from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
