Customer Reviews

This is well worth a trip. There is not a lot to see (the castle is now a hotel and you can’t go in) but I was glad we stayed the night nearby because we went at night and during the day. The lights, especially at Christmas, were spectacular. In the morning we explored the walls (you can walk mostly all the way around…use care because there were no hand rails). Lots of restaurants and shops to poke through, and live musicians in the murder hole. Wonderful medieval town.

Óbidos Christmas Village (Vila Natal) is an absolutely magical experience that truly brings the holiday spirit to life. The village is beautifully decorated, with charming lights, festive displays, and an enchanting atmosphere that delights visitors of all ages. There are plenty of activities, stalls, and seasonal treats to enjoy, making it a perfect destination for families, couples, or groups of friends looking to celebrate the season. The only drawback is that the queues can be quite long for many attractions and stands, especially during peak times, but the overall joy and festive charm make it well worth the visit.

Castelo de Óbidos is a beautiful and historic place to visit. The castle is very well preserved and offers stunning views over the town and surrounding countryside. Walking along the walls feels like stepping back in time. The atmosphere is charming, with cobbled streets, traditional houses, and plenty of photo opportunities. Óbidos itself is lovely to explore, with small shops, cafés, and local treats like ginjinha. A must-visit destination for history lovers and anyone looking to experience the charm of Portugal.
