The guide was great but the owner said they had one who spoke English. My Spanish isn’t good enough to understand everything my guide (who in fact didn’t speak English) was saying. I brought this up to the owner afterwards and he read but ignored my message. However, I did pay what we agreed on. I didn’t pay half of what we agreed on and then ignore the agency afterwards for example.

We were 2 people going on 4 day tour to the Amazonas with a local guides There’s a lot of good and a quite a bit to improve from our perspective. The good: - Our guide was absolutely knowledgeable and navigated us through the jungle and local families without a hitch. He also spoke good English which was a great plus. - the traveling was flawless and well organized. All we needed was packed and from that perspective the tour was perfect. - We got the chance to see and do a lot of stuff (always up to local weather conditions and so forth…) - We could store anything we didn’t need with the staff. To be improved: - The plastic bags that should have kept our stuff dry in rain did have quite a few holes. If you go, make sure to have extra plastic bags for stuff that shouldn’t get wet. - The tent was quite small, even for people who are about 1,75 meters. So if you’re super tall, maybe ask for a big tent. Also the tent was patched in many places including the netting and the seams were starting to give up. We didn’t think we got bitten a lot during the night (which may have been due to our excessive use of mosquito spray), but still the tent should be replaced. - While our guide was really good generally speaking, we thought he could’ve been more anticipating with translations, asking for more feedback about our experience. Going to the Amazonas was really the exact opposite of the life we are used to, so of course from a cultural perspective it can be intimidating. In any such situation it’s super helpful to have an empathic and anticipating guide who can help us to understand how to best behave respectfully, how to communicate and to help us embrace the culture. I think from that perspective the guide could have done more. - In hindsight it would be nice to know the financial distribution of the fee we paid to go on the tour. Since it was quite a lot of money we paid and we saw first hand who is involved and how much in making our trip great, it would be really nice to know that the indigenous communities and the tour guide get paid what they deserve. At least some form of financial transparency would be really nice in order for us to know that all parts of the chain get a fair share.

Great experience with Patricio and his collegue, the Indian guide. I spent with them a wonderful day, thanks for all!

Great tour agency! The owner speaks English and Spanish. He lived with the Waorani for five years as a teacher. Very knowledgeable about the flora, fauna, and history of the area.

The tour with Patricio was amazing. It rained all day and he gave us rain boots and ponchos which came in handy. We went to see the dragon fish, then did a nice hike through the Amazon jungle towards a waterfall and learned a lot about the animals and plants. The lunch (whole fish and chicken with soup) included was very fresh. And later we went to visit the native village and got to hold a snake and a parrot. The canoe ride down the river was also awesome with a very skilled rower. After that the swing at the top of the jungle just made the experience even more memorable. Patricio was very knowledgeable about native culture because he has lived with them for five years. This was very much appreciated and we would definitely recommend this tour to anyone and he also has 2-4 day tours.
