The island Heimaey was exciting even when we were approaching it with our ferry. It was only a 45 minute ride to get here and the ferry was on time and reasonably priced. We spent only one night here and took our car over by ferry. and for us this was perfect. This island has beautiful landscape with so much to see and to experience. If you visit Iceland, do not forget a trip to Westman Islands.
Highly recommend taking the ferry (or staying) on this island. One of the most fun days we had in Iceland ❤️ the puffins, the people, the sites. Just a great day, even though the wind was on another level. So worth it 😄
One of my favorite places in Iceland. The small island of Westman has a beautiful town that coexists with a volcano. You can still see the petrified lava dividing spaces with the houses. At the top of it, you can feel the vapors from the volcano and warm your hands with them. Not to mention the colors of the rocks, which are a show on their own. A tranquil place, with cliffs and breathtaking views, it's home to the funny and lively puffins.
