Salta: Cafayate, tierra de vinos.

We will embark on a scenic journey from the city of Salta to Cafayate, located 180 km away in the heart of the Calchaquí Valley. This route is famous for its stunning landscapes and is one of the most renowned in Northern Argentina. As we travel, we will pass through the central and southern Lerma Valley, eventually entering the Quebrada de las Conchas Nature Reserve. This narrow valley is surrounded by colorful hills, where shades of orange and red dominate the landscape. The road winds through this incredible terrain, offering views of natural formations such as La Garganta del Diablo (Devil’s Throat), El Anfiteatro (Amphitheater), Las Ventanas (Windows), Los Castillos and many more, each showcasing the power of wind and erosion shaping the land over centuries.

Once we arrive in Cafayate, the land of wines, we will explore the region’s world-renowned vineyards. Cafayate is celebrated for its wine production, particularly its Torrontés variety, which thrives in the unique climate of the valley. You will have the opportunity to visit one of the area’s top wineries, where you can learn about the local winemaking process and enjoy a tasting of some of the finest wines in the region. The landscape surrounding the vineyards is equally spectacular, with the majestic mountains in the backdrop offering a perfect setting for a leisurely visit.

After a delightful lunch and wine tasting, we will begin our journey back to Salta. We will retrace our route through the Quebrada de las Conchas, taking in the awe inspiring scenery one more time. The trip offers an unforgettable experience, combining the natural beauty of the region with the rich cultural and agricultural heritage of Cafayate. The adventure allows you to immerse yourself in the landscapes, wines, and history of this remarkable part of Argentina.
