A seven-lake tour in Panjakent, Tajikistan. All the lakes are beautiful, but the seventh is by far the best. From the sixth to the seventh lake, we usually trek on foot, but due to heavy snow, we opted for a four-wheel drive. The road was icy and the car skidded three or four times, but thanks to our driver's excellent driving skills, we were able to set foot on the seventh lake. It was a thrilling experience, as if the lake were our own. And the Tajik people, living in harmony with nature. December 14, 2025

What a wonderful sight! I've never seen natural lakes on top of each other before, let alone seven of them on top of a mountain. The drive was rough as there's no asphalt but the scenery was unforgettable. Very local village for mostly shepherds. It was really insightful to see how they go on their daily life. I came in Dec 2025 and I had all the lakes for myself as it was low season during winter. To reach the last lake, you need to walk 6km from the 6th lake (Marguzor). Each lake has different colour from each other. The 6th lake is the biggest one, and might also be the most beautiful.

We had a day trip from Samarcande to this valley with the 7 lakes. The full trip took us 12h from 7h00 to 17h00. We booked through an agency in Samarcande. Pick up directly at you hotel, 1 hour driving up to the border between Uzbekistan and Tadjikistan. Depending on the affluence at the border, it could take from 20 min to 1 hour to cross the border walking. Another car is waiting on the other side. The track in the valley of Fan is 35 km and could be very bumpy. The 7 lakes are beautiful. All in all, it worth the effort!

The Seven Lakes (Haft Kul) are absolutely stunning, with each lake showing off a different color. The road can be rough, but the views are more than worth it. Locals are warm and welcoming, and the atmosphere is incredibly serene. A must-visit for nature and mountain lovers.

Then it took us another 10minutes to the last 7th lake and this was the best of all. It was the biggest and it came from the mountains and most part of it was frozen. We went hiking for about 20minutes one way but due to cold weather and us being just in T-shirt we gave it up and returned. But we liked the hiking and it was good experience. On our way back the van got stuck and spent about 20minutes trying to pull it out. Fortunately, there were other women tourist passing who helped us. The lake name is "Hazorchashma" with the meaning "thousand springs"
