Adrian and Francisco gave us a fantastic experience. The rums and chocolate were all delicious, and we learned so much about all of them and how they are made. We were initially hesitant but we had heard from other travellers that this experience was well worth it, and it completely exceeded expectations. If you like rum and chocolate even a little bit, you will love this!
A group of nine of us booked the Lunatico Cartagena: Express Rum and Chocolate Tasting Experience (about $50 USD per person) through GetYourGuide. On the day of, they called to say the electricity was out and asked if we wanted to reschedule. I didn’t realize the venue was open-air until we arrived, so I asked if we could still come — and I’m so glad we did. The place is beautiful inside and out, with gorgeous hand-painted art. Even though it was a hot day, the open-air setup kept us comfortable and they were extremely accommodating from the start. Since we didn’t reschedule, they upgraded us from the Express to the full experience at no extra cost. They took their time explaining each chocolate and each rum, and how the flavors work together. Every chocolate was delicious, and they even handled an almond allergy in our group with care. The rum expert and his assistant were warm, attentive, and even offered us free beers for the inconvenience. Between the tasting, the hospitality, and the stunning city view, it ended up being an unforgettable experience — we honestly couldn’t even tell the electricity was out. They were upfront, flexible, and made sure we still had a great time, and we matched that energy. Loved it. Worth every dollar. Would absolutely do it again and recommend it to anyone visiting Cartagena.
