Qaqortoq is the largest town in southern Greenland. It's name means "White" reflecting the white granite. The area dates back to the Vikings. Present day settled in 1775 by the Danes and Norwegians. Lots of local hand made crafts. A few restaurants. Yes there are plenty of flies and mosquitoes, so heads up. This is a cruise port tender stop. Sometimes there are more than one ship in port. Rocky and Hilly roads.

Enjoyable place. Easy to self tour by foot, if you are able to walk. Moderately steep inclines. Be cautious, as pedestrians and vehicles share the road here. Do not expect to be able to exchange your money for Krone at the Greenland bank.

Nice little and colourful town in Greenland. Many icebergs around the bay are ready to go to the open ocean.
