My 2 favorite stops were the kitchen store, just off the square and the made in New Mexico store. At the kitchen store I picked up a few cans of Bluefly Farms, farm-to-can sparkling waters, made in ABQ. I bought lavender, tulsi, and rosemary. From the Made in NM I bought Sante Fe season packages, that are easy to travel with, to make local fair during the rest of my trip or when I'm home. They also have shipping, so I sent a few packets to a friend so she could make green chili.

Quaint and very nice. You can walk around and visit art galleries, restaurants, shops and much more. The town is in the flatlands surrounded by mountains and foothills. Enjoyed visiting Taos.

After much research and never having been to Taos we decided to take the high road into Taos and the low load back. Our first stop was at Chimayo and we saw the Santuario de Chimayó, perhaps the most beautiful of the old churches along the route, though interior photos are not allowed. We next stopped at Truchas - the church there was a bit harder to find and it's not as interesting, though the drive along the town's main street was worth the time there. Next was Las Trampas and the Church of San José de Gracia. The exterior is picturesque though it was not possible to go inside on the day I visited. Well, yeah if you expect it to be the most scenic drive in America, you'll probably be disappointed. But it is still a nice, scenic, leisure drive. The old town Square of Taos was historically interesting, not crowded as many of the shops were closed (Sunday afternoon) so we window shopped. We stopped in at the historic hotel on the square which had some interesting art on the walls in the entry. Several restaurants around the square were opened and the menus looked wonderful. We strolled down past the square to see other galleries and museums all closed on the day we visited. Hard to find free parking as most lots charge $5 payable by card but we parked several blocks away and walked. We plan on taking the part of the enchanted loop around Taos and low road back.

Quaint downtown area to enjoy various boutiques etc. I will say there is construction, the ability to move around with the construction is overstated. And I'm sure once it's complete people will still complain. Regardless, it's fun to walk around and enjoy the shops, get coffee and chocolate treats. It's a fun time, there is lots of people so expect crowds as you're navigating everything. We were able to walk everywhere from our parking at the La Fonda Inn as guests.

Love the town. Really like the local artwork of course. Had some great green chile stew. Can't remember the restaurant though
