Gamle Stavanger – June 2023 Group: Family of 4, children ages 3 & 5 🌄 Experience Summary I had read about Stavanger’s old wooden district beforehand, so we made sure to include it in our stop — and it turned out to be exactly the charming corner we hoped for. The beautifully preserved white wooden houses, cobblestone lanes, and little gardens create a charming atmosphere that’s enjoyable even for young kids who simply wander around exploring. ⭐ Highlights • One of Europe’s best-preserved wooden-house districts with postcard-worthy streets. • Peaceful, atmospheric, and perfect for short, slow walks. • Very easy to combine with the harbour or other Stavanger attractions. 📝 Tips for Visitors (Families with kids) • Cobblestones can be tricky for strollers — letting kids walk is easier. • The area is compact; 20–40 minutes is usually enough to see everything. • Visit in daylight or good weather if possible — the bright white houses shine in the sun. • Some small uphill sections may require a hand for younger children. ⚠️ Observations • Not activity-based for kids, but visually and atmospherically delightful for adults. • Can get busy when cruise ships arrive, though still pleasant to explore.

One of the most beautiful old towns I’ve ever visited. The charming white houses perfectly reflect and embody the spirit of Norwegian culture. It’s the best place for a peaceful walk and taking Instagram-worthy photos.

Beautiful city! You can stroll around and enjoy the charming streets during the summer. The old town streets are very cozy and decorated with flowers.
