Our very first visit during our trip to Switzerland, we used the Cogwheel train for the first time and wow what a journey and we could feel the biting cold air of the ice melting and what a great scene we saw at the peak of the railway it was a marvellous scene, loved it

Ride is free with the Swiss Rail Pass. Great views. Fun ride. Some trains are older vintage cars and others are more modern ones. Try to get on the old vintage train if you can.

Slow, noisy, busy, cramped... Of course it is, it's an antique train taking loads of tourists up a Swiss mountain to view some of the most beautiful vistas in the world. Two criticisms. Windows mist up quickly, spoiling the view. Frequency is 1 per hour. But how wondrous is it to get on one of these things and ascend through the clouds to glorious sunshine!
