We spent 7 days at the lodge and had a truly great time. The staff are wonderful, the guides leading the activities are super knowledgeable and the whole experience was really worth it. It’s an eco lodge, so this means intermittent electricity and no air conditioning, but the cool water showers keep it manageable - after all, you’re in the rainforest! Highly recommended to visit this wonderful and sustainable place.

I thoroughly enjoyed these days in Pacaya Samiria, exploring the Amazon rainforest with our wonderful guide, Dik. He is highly trained and experienced, and he conveyed to us his passion and love for the Amazon rainforest's nature, as well as for the communities that live there.

The lodge is very well located. It's an hour past Nauta, right at the entrance to Pacaya Samiria. The standard is typical for jungle lodges, but it's currently the best in the area. Bathrooms are basic, with only cold water. Electricity and Wi-Fi are only available at certain times. The cabins are very spacious and clean. The beds are comfortable. The mosquito nets are too coarse for my liking, but they don't have any holes. If you're sensitive to mosquitoes (like me), bring your own. Definitely get a fine-mesh net. Box-shaped nets are ideal. The beds are prepared accordingly, which is great. Speaking of mosquitoes, even though we're in the dry season (absolutely no rain at the moment), I'm constantly being bitten. I've rarely experienced such a swarm. The lodge has a small lake, which explains the mosquito problem. Even in the main building, it's almost unbearable. Evening drinks? Forget about it. The meals are simple but tasty. Make sure to request any special drinks (wine, Coke Zero, etc.) in advance while you're still in Nauta. Or bring your own. Without electricity, cooling is a problem. The scenery in this area is worth seeing, as is the trail behind the lodge. Rubber boots aren't always available in all sizes, so it's best to bring a pair that fits properly. Our guide was fantastic. Even though we've been to the Peruvian jungle many times before, we learned a lot. The lodge staff were also extremely friendly. One small disappointment: there's a pool, but it wasn't accessible. A real shame. That would have been a highlight. Another tip: you can easily book a customized package through Atambo in Germany, which makes things much simpler. It was even cheaper.
