Geothermal area with some small pools. The activity is not high but probably sometimes here are small eruptions. Parking fee 750ISK but almost half of the area is closed due to constructions. Strong smell of sulfur so if you don’t resist this, just skip. Other then that is a beautiful place but not the most beautiful. A few boards that explain the history of the area and the volcanic activity. Many icy portions, bring spikes.

Paid parking. Easy short walk thats a loop, one side has most of the sights. It definitely does smell like eggs, but it's not ridiculous. The geothermal activity is very cool to see.

Interesting place worth visiting. Colorful muds and sediments, mud pots and fumaroles. You can do a loop around the geothermal area in less than 20 minutes (depends on how much you are interested in reading about the activity there). Not too smelly. Paid parking, free toilets at the spot.
Mike

Cool stop to check out geothermal activity up close and personal. Ample parking for cars and busses is available nearby. The paths and trails are well maintained. There are wooden walkways and gravel paths. You can get pretty close to the vents and get good photos/videos of the area. There are free restrooms at the location as well. Cool place to visit.

This was a last minute addition to our itinerary, but we are so glad we went! Beautiful site. So different from what we had seen of Iceland (Golden Circle and the South Coast). Followed the creek up the mountain all the way, and went over the top. GREAT view. Green Lake was so pretty from there too.
